Abstract
Ulcerative colitis may not necessarily be rare as previously thought in tropical and subtropical Africa. With increasing westernized life style, greater utilization and accessibility to modern medical practice,availability of tertiary level health care diagnostic tools coupled with high index of suspicion and increased awareness of the disease in our population, more and more cases may be found and its true incidence and prevalence known. This report describe a case of ulcerative colitis of undetermined etiology in a Nigerian middle belt woman seen at Asokoro Hospital,Abuja,a tertiary level health care facility in Nigeria middle belt.
