Abstract
The various course programmes in Nigerian Polytechnics require a great deal of written work in English in addition to practical activities. Apart from serving as a means of permanently recording and communicating knowledge between lecturers and students, written English is employed in examination, tests and assignments in observation and experiments as well as in explanation and interpretation of mechanisms processes.
