dc.description.abstract | The chapter gave an overview of teaching. It clarified the technical concepts in teaching and learning-- approaches, methods and techniques; active and passive learning and the theories underlining both; teaching styles and learning styles and relationship between both; as well as the teacher-centred and learner-centred modes of instruction. It also explored detailed description of different teaching methods, associated approaches and relevant techniques, the strengths and drawbacks of each as well when they could be used in teaching. It emphasized the importance of planning in teaching effectiveness, noting that technology integration and learner active involvement are keys to effective teaching in 21st century. The chapter concluded that there is no single best method of teaching as instructional contents and contexts do vary as much as the learners. | en_US |
