Abstract
The study investigates one of the social vices that have eaten so deep into the fabric of society, which is pre-marital sex amongst adolescent Islamic studies students. Lagos state was chosen because of its cosmopolitan nature. 80 students, 30 teachers and 20 parents were involved in the study. The study examines the influence which sexuality education could have on the students’ attitudinal change. Three hypotheses were generated to guide the study. The results show that sexuality education has significant influence on the attitude of adolescent Islamic studies students towards pre-marital sex and sex- related issues; there is significant gender difference in the attitude of adolescent Islamic studies students towards pre-marital sex and sex- related problems and significant relationship between the attitude of students and the need for sex education. It was therefore suggested, among other things that parents should instill appropriate concept of sex education as laid down by the Qur'an; the school setting should play integral part in educating the adolescents, while students should adjust to the physiological changes and act responsibly as not to ruin their future as leaders of tomorrow.
