Abstract
The paper delved on the appraisal of the various international law restrictions placed on the retentionist countries in the imposition of death sentences on capital offenders. The author appraised restrictions like non-expansion of the scope of capital punishment, non-use of retroactive legislations for capital punishment and restraint from imposing death penalty on certain vulnerable capital offenders.
