Abstract
Youth unemployment is a major challenge confronting the Nigerian economy. This paper examined unemployment reduction through sustainable skills and the role of Adult Education. It also focused on the global achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the employability of Nigerian graduates. Many Nigerian graduates seem to lack the soft skills to complement the certificates and knowledge acquired from their training. This paper also examined the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations on the 25th of September, 2015. There are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 8 emphasises sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. The paper concluded by looking at the role of Adult Education as an agent of social change in tackling youth unemployment.
