dc.description.abstractThe challenges associated with disability are enormous and more especially University students with physical disabilities. It subjects them to the risk of developing depressive symptoms, which invariably leads to poor psychological well-being. A cross-sectional survey design was adopted and one hundred and forty-three (143) students who have physical disability were selected through snow balling technique selected for the study. The instrument satisfied face and content validity and the internal consistency reliability was determined. Data collected were analysed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation, Regression and t-test at 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between social support and psychological well-being, problem focused coping, emotional focused coping, avoidance focused coping have joint influence on psychological well-being. Male students significantly reported higher psychological well-being than female student. It was concluded that social support, coping strategy and gender have significant influence on psychological wellbeing of students with physical disabilities. The study recommends social work interventions that involve the school authority, non-governmental organizations and the family members connected with students with disabilities in improving their psychological well-being.en_US
