dc.description.abstract | The study is on achieving professionalism in adult and technical teacher education through managing change in pedagogy. Three research questions were raised for the study while the design adopted for the was a survey. The population for the study included all the lecturers in Adult and Technology education, University of Lagos, Akoka, and Lagos State University, Ojo. A total of 23 items structured questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. The mean and standard deviation were the statistical tools used in analyzing the data collected from the respondents. The findings of the study revealed that qualities of the teacher that qualify him as a professional include: Professional Attitude, Professional Ethics, Professional Development/Service, Professional Human Relations, and Professional Knowledge and Execution of duties. Challenges to teacher professionalism include: Poor teaching and learning environment, Lack of mentoring the young teachers, difficulty in disengaging the unqualified, the quacks and the charlatans from teaching, and Politicizing education by government. Also the teachers' years of experience have positive effed on the teaching pedagogy. | en_US |
