dc.description.abstract | This study examines the role of the mass media in national development in a pluralistic state like Nigeria. The study concludes that from 1859 when the first newspaper, Iwe Irohin, was published, till date, the mass media in Nigeria had played great roles in developing the nation-state Nigeria. The study recommends that Nigeria, being a pluralistic society, requires a vibrant mass media which should at all times seek to integrate the plural interests inherent in the entity, Nigeria. To achieve the aforesaid, it is recommended that mass media organisations adopt multipolar methods of coverage of events | en_US |
