dc.description.abstractThis study examines the role of the mass media in Nigeria, especially, the mass media's role in setting agenda of unity. The author questioned the docile role Nigerian mass media workers/organisations are playing in developing the Nigerian state. The author chronicled the positive and negative contributions of the mass media to the development of the nation-state Nigeria and concluded that the mass media have performed remarkably and otherwise. Taking cognizance of the aforesaid the author proposed a new role for the mass media. This new role he tagged guide dog roleen_US
