dc.description.abstractThis article examines the role of the mass media in governance. The conclusion includes that as the constitutionally recognized Fourth Estate of the Realm the media's role in governance is indispensable. The media is expected to play the role of guiding the polity via their surveillance and correlation role so that each arm of government will be accountable to the citizens. The authors are of the view that if the mass media will be excellent in their role they also need to be responsible and honest in their dealingen_US
