Faced with similar prospects, Nigeria introduction Social Studies into the curricula of her educational institutions in the early 1970s. Up till now, however, the objectives, content and methods of the subject have not been clearly defined in the Nigerian context, and the extent its diffusion down the educational system not assessed.
