Abstract
Evaluation is an indispensable tool in our everyday lives and the FAMOUS model is a specifically constructed model that has been used to assess students’ learning outcome in a particular university in Nigeria. This survey tested the model as an evaluation tool on students learning outcome in the University of Lagos. It selected 275 students and lecturers using stratified and purposeful random sampling techniques. It tested the compliance of student assessment processes with the FAMOUS model, using the duly validated instruments (two sets of questionnaires and a 6-item checklist) and found that evaluation practices do not fully comply with the model. It was suggested that a modified FAMOUS model be applied more vigorously in evaluation practices within universities because of its emphasis on feedback.
