dc.description.abstractOrganizations are like family settings that help in bringing benefits to both the employees and the employers when appropriate policies are put in place. These policies ensure career enhancement and sustainable development of workers and the organization as a whole. This study therefore, examined the relationship between family friendly policies and job satisfaction of employees in public and private institutions in Lagos state, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive survey design of “ex-post-facto” type. The population of the study consist of employees in public and private institutions in Lagos state. A total of three hundred and sixty-four (364) were sampled, which was shared proportionately among the levels or cadres of employees in the University of Lagos and Crown Flour Mills. Two research questions and two hypotheses were raised and postulated respectively to guide the study. A self-constructed questionnaire titled “Family Friendly Policies and Job Satisfaction in Public & Private Organizations Questionnaire” (FFPOQ) was designed for data collection. The reliability coefficient ranged between 0.96 and 0.97 were obtained for the instrument using Cronbach’s Alpha at 0.05 significance level. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used specifically to test the hypotheses at 0.05 significance level. The study revealed that health care policy has a significant relationship with employee’s job satisfaction given the acceptance level at r =0 .970 and a significant relationship exists between employee financial policy and job satisfaction given the acceptance level at r =0 .940. Based on the results obtained, the study recommends that a systematic and unanimous approach be taken by the management to effectively adopt and implement health care and financial assistance policies to groom a healthy and happy employee that will be productive and efficient at work, home and the society towards ensuring career advancement and sustainable development of workers and the organization.en_US
