Abstract
Educational institutions no doubt provide a melting pot for different cultures and languages. This, therefore, makes education a veritable tool for the peaceful coexistence of all people irrespective of whom they are and where they come from. Through education also people acquire knowledge, information; attitudes, skills, and abilities that enable them to live, appreciate, and respect each other's viewpoints, beliefs, and opinions. Furthermore, peace education helps to create an environment that is free from violent conflict and wars as well as ensure a safer future for the upcoming generations. This research, therefore, is an attempt to determine how education can be managed to ensure peace and conflict resolution in some selected states in the country. This is particularly pertinent especially at this time in the life of the country when the country is experiencing all forms of ethnic violence, civil strives, terrorism, cold wars, ethnic intolerance, social violence to mention but a few. The paper will employ the descriptive survey design; the population of the study will consist of stakeholders inside and outside the educational system. A total of 300 respondents were selected through the stratified random sampling and cluster technique Data will be collected using a structured questionnaire developed by the researchers while the descriptive statistics such as simple percentages and tables will be used to analyze data collected from the field The findings of the study will help to make suggestions on how peace education can be integrated into the education system to ensure a more peaceful and violence-free environment for all citizens of this nation.
