Abstract
The twenty-first-century competency demands and the deficiencies of the education curricula to adequately equip students with the requisite skills have aggravated the unemployment and underemployment rate among Business Education graduates. Business Education curriculum of tertiary institutions in Nigeria is devoid of foreign language competences. In this era of globalization, the knowledge and competences of foreign languages are indispensable in the entrepreneurial empowerment of Business Education students, in particular. Therefore, the study reviewed relevant literature on the need for the inclusion of foreign language competences (i.e. French and Chinese languages) into the curriculum of Business Education programme at tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Another compelling factor for the inclusion of foreign languages into the curriculum of Business Education at tertiary education level is the geographical location of Nigeria amidst Francophone countries, and the need for students to be equipped with competences of language(s) of the environment for smooth exploration of entrepreneurial opportunities both internationally and intercontinentally. The study also emphasized the suitable pedagogical strategies and approaches for the teaching and learning of foreign languages in Business Education programmes at the tertiary institution level.
