Hasan Al-Bannā was a great thinker and revivalist of Islam in the twentieth century in the Muslim world that most of the Islamic resurgence groups which emerged in some parts of the Muslim world are directly or indirectly influenced by his Islamic activism on the inter-relationship between politics and religion. This study aims at examining and revisiting the theo-political thought of Al-Bannā which he theorized in the earlier twentieth century. The purpose is to see what element of impact does this theo-political thought has on the emergence of various Islamic resurgent groups in several parts of Muslim nations in the contemporary period. The study gives brief account of life of Al-Bannā before casting a cursory look at his religious activities in Egypt. Then, the study goes ahead to examine Al-Bannā’s three stages of theo-political thought and appraise its influence on several Islamic resurgent groups in the Muslim world. Research methodologies used in this study are analytical and descriptive. Conclusively, the study postulates that Al-Bannā’s theo-political thought is felt in the twentieth century, not only in Egypt, but in the whole Islamic world, and most of the Islamic resurgence groups which emerged in some parts of the Muslim world are directly or indirectly influenced by Al-Bannā’s theo-political thought. Finally, the study recommends that Al-Bannā’s works on theo-political thought should be carefully reconsidered by the contemporary Islamic ideologues who are clamouring for Islamic government.en_US
