Abstract
The fast-paced world needs individuals who can think critically and employ different tools of critical thinking in providing solutions to major challenges in the world. This study investigated Literature-in-English teachers' use of drama texts to promote critical thinking among senior secondary school students. The study was conducted among senior secondary school Literature in-English teachers in ten schools in Shomolu Local Government Area. The research instruments included a questionnaire and observation guide. All the English/Literature-in-English teachers in the selected schools constituted the study sample and were given the questionnaire, while classroom observations were conducted in each of the schools. Results obtained from the study revealed that most of the teachers have a vague idea of the concept of critical thinking and are not familiar with components of CT, even though they claimed to recognise the relationship between drama texts and critical thinking development. Recommendations, such as the exposure of Literature-in-English teachers to the components of critical thinking either through symposia or through attending conferences, were made on how Literature-in-English teachers can improve their knowledge of CT and how they can use drama texts to promote critical thinking among their students.
