Abstract
The crystal structures of several para -substituted ethynylbenzene derivatives; namely, 4-ethynylanisole (), 4-ethynylmethylbenzoate (), 4-ethynylbenzaldehyde (), 4-ethynyl-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroanisole (), 4-ethynylthioanisole (), and 4-ethynyltoluene () have been solved from X-ray diffraction data. In, the molecular packing consists of infinite chains of molecules, linked by intermolecular ≡CH ··· O hydrogen bonds. The structure of contains weak bifurcated ≡CH ··· S and ≡CH ··· π (C≡C) interactions and that of, ≡CH ··· π (benzene) interactions.
