Quite a number of them are faced with great challenges of psychological exhaustion which is so worrisome not only to the people concerned but the larger society as well. Therefore, the study examined the effectiveness of Integrative Behavioural Couple Therapy and Logotherapy on psychological exhaustion among married persons in Ibadan metropolis, Nigeria. It adopted a quasi-experimental design with the use of pre-test/post-test and control groups. The study comprised 125 married persons (60 males and 65males) in Ibadan metropolis. The reliability coefficient was obtained using Cronbach's co-efficient alpha (0.78). The data collected were carefully analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study revealed that there is a significant difference in the post-test scores of psychological exhaustion experienced by the participants due to the experimental conditions (Integrative Behavioural Couple Therapy and Logotherapy). But there is no significant difference in the post test scores of psychological exhaustion experienced by the participants due to gender (p>0.05). Hence, the study investigated the effectiveness of logotherapy on somatic exhaustion experienced by the married persons in Ibadan metropolis. Experimental research design with the use of Pre-test/Post-Test and control quasi design was applied. The participants were 84 married persons. Couple burnout measure was used by the researchers to gather data to test the two null hypotheses. The reliability coefficient was obtained using Cronbach’s co-efficient alpha (0.78). The data collected were carefully analysed and the hypotheses were tested with the use of mean, standard deviation and analysis of covariance statistics (ANCOVA) to assess the differences in the post-test scores of somatic exhaustion experienced by the participations in the due to the logotheraphy intervention. The results of the study revealed that the participants in the control group did not report any significant difference while the participant in logotherapy intervention reported significant differences in the post-test scores and there was no significant difference in the post test scores of male and female participants. - ItemOpen AccessInfluence of Psycho-Social Variables on Mental Stability among Intact Families in Lagos Metropolis(The African Journal on Behavioural and Scale Development Research (AJB-SDR), 2019-02) Adebiyi, D.T; Olusakin, A.M; Makinde, B.OThe study examined the influence of psycho-social variables on marital stability among intact families (families that included two married biological parents) in Lagos metropolis. The sample comprised 118 people in intact families who were conveniently selected from five local government areas of Lagos metropolis. It is assumed that the study would be of benefit to families in intact marriage and a sort of guide to the use of psycho-social variables that enhance the stability of marriages; the result of correct application would lead to a healthy society. The researchers designed questionnaire titled "influence of psycho-social variables on marital stability among intact families in Lagos Metropolis" which was used to collect necessary data for the study. Independent-t-test and Pearson Product Moment Correlation were applied for data analysis. The outcomes of the study revealed that traits and gender differences in psychic durability (tolerance), have significant influence on marital stability among intact families. On the other hand, one hypothesis was retained in the null form. That is, there is no significant relationship between socio-economic status and marital stability among couples in intact families. It is therefore recommended that couples in intact families should engage in the use of the various psycho-social variables that will further enhance the stability of their marriages so as to avoid the problems that are likely to arise if not properly managed.
