The study adopted a correlational research design. The population for the study comprised all the full-time students with visual impairment. Purposive sampling was used to select 65 participants with visual disabilities. A self-develop Psychological Distress Scale (PDS reliability of 0.77 was used to collect data. The PDS has two major sections with the first section used to collect background information. The other section was further divided into four sub-sections used to gather information on sub-variables. Social Competence has eight statements, Isolation has six sta Communication has nine statements and Anger had 10 statements. The sub-scales were constructed in type 4- points scale of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree and Strongly Disagree. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, Pearson product moment correlation and multiple regressions. The results revealed that isolation and anger negatively determined social competences of the participants while peer communication positively predicts social competence of the participants. The results further indicated that the independent variables did not jointly predict social competence of the participants but peer communication and isolation contributed significantly. Parents, teachers, non-disabled peers and guardian are also encouraged to help create conducive environment for individuals with visual impairment to have good peer communication, adaptable social interaction and reduced level of aggression.
