- ItemOpen AccessThe development of private universities and its implication on the quality of education in Nigeria(Department of Educational Administration and Planning, University of Calabar., 2015-12) Uzoka, N.E.; Abolo, E.V.; Lasisi, A.M.This paper examined the explosion of private universities and its implication on the quality of education in Nigeria. Specifically the study sets out to determine the effect of quality teaching personnel and ascertain the impact of adequacy offacilities and infrastructure on the quality of education. Furthermore, the study examined how adequate funding will enhance the quality of education. Four research questions and four hypotheses were raised to guide the study. A descriptive research design was employed targeting all the academic members of staff in Southwest Nigeria. Stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select one hundred (/00) respondents. Questionnaire was the main instrument used for data collection which was validated and the reliability ascertained. Interview H'US also used to corroborate the questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics H'ere employed for data analyses. Some of the major findings were that accreditation of academic programmes ensures that the curricular and learning environment meet the needs ana relevance of university in order to achieve the stated objectives, inadequate facilities and manpower challenges are highly responsible for the decline of private universities in the country. The study recommends, among others that continuous monitoring of private universities for accreditation should align with the minimum standard specified by the National Universities Commission, there is need for adequate funding in order to ensure the provision of adequate facilities and infrastructure.
- ItemOpen AccessReaserches in education studies: dissemination and implementation challenges in Nigerian higher institutions(Faculty of Education, University of Benin, 2017-11) Abolo, E.V.; Uzoka, N.E.The study investigated the challenges a/disseminating and implementing research findings' in Nigerian higher institutions. Four higher institutions: two universities and two colleges o] education in Lagos State formed the population of the study. A total of 400 academics l.v. ere sampled from the various faculties and departments in the institutions. Five Research Questions were answered using the research instrument titled Research Dissemination and Implementation Challenges Questionnaire (lWICQ). The findings revealed that though most academics ill higher institution conduct researches, their findings are sparsely disseminated and implemented due to political and government factors. Recommendations such as involving the institutions in the implementation stage and indulging in the politics of the implementation agencies were proffered 10 ensure the realization of turning research findings into practice.

It is the effective use of technological tools in learning. It is concerned with varieties of tools such as media and networking hardware including theoretical perception with effective application. Educational technology is made up of various types of media that convey message, audio, images. animation, and streaming video. It also involves technology applications and processes such as audio or video tape, satellite TV,CD-ROM, and computer-based learning.
