Abstract
This paper is a critical examination of the application of ethical standards professionalism for effective teaching in Nigerian secondary schools. It discuss concept of ethics with reference to some definitions. The issue of professionalism an approaches were also discussed. Several efforts at professionalizing teaching various challebges hindering it in Nigeria were also brought to the fore in the paper - paper therefore recommended that a period of internship for teachers after traininz -
