Abstract
Formation and sustainability of a state in every human society is a necessary venture as human beings have a great interest in civility and socialization by their natural disposition. The needed vital instrument to achieve this venture is not within the capacity of a single man as this venture requires the solidarity and co-operation of group of people in a society. The study aims at examining the theory of ‘Aşabiyyah as propounded by a renowned Muslim scholar, IbnKhaldūn in his introduction to his magnus opus “Kitāb Al-Ibār Wa Diwān’Al-Mabtada’ Wa Al-Khabar Fī Ayām Al-Arabī Wa Al-Ajamī Wa Al-Barbar WacAsarahum Min Dhāwī As-Sulţān Wa Al-Akbar” meaning “The Book of Wisdom and Anthology Concerning the Beginning and Discuss in the Time of Arab and the Non-Arab and the Berber and their Contemporaries who had Great Sultanate and Kingdom” titled Al-Muqaddimah in relation to the formation and sustainability of Fūlānī Emirate in Ìlọrin. The purpose is to see what element of impact does this theory of Aşabiyyah has on the formation and sustainability of Fūlānī Emirate in Ìlọrin since early nineteenth century of Christian era.
