The paper uses two issues to engage with the key theme of the study. The first issue is the disparity between media projections of the outcomes of the result of the Presidential election and the actual result. The second is the muted influence of the negative media campaigns on the result of the election. The paper makes a case for a rethink of the role of the media (especially mainstream media) in elections.
